Spanish Drone Show Gives Beachside View

Marine Seascapes, Cinematic Journeys Give Locals a Show

The big draw this time around was a bigger show than ever held before, with 4 scheduled performances that used hundreds of drones in simultaneous flight to produce a nighttime light show.

The Poniente beach hosted exhibitions on the playa on Friday and Saturday, at 10:45 and 11:45 pm, giving multiple audiences a chance at catching the show. Friday's exhibited "Geometrics 300" by the company Flock Drone Art, performing a 'mystical dance of abstract shapes and figures' with the accompaniment of a custom soundtrack. Geometrics 300 is a refined version of the Catalan firm's most popular show, first performed, by coincidence, in Gijón, Spain to begin with. The second performance came by way of Hidrone, as it performed "Dance of the Sea - Discover Vietnam," showing off 'mesmerizing images of marine life and iconic representations of Vietnamese culture'. A flock of drones showed off landscapes of Ha Long Bay, Ao Dai, and a host of Vietnamese marine fauna to the music of Hello Vietnam.

On Saturday, attendees saw "Odyssey" by Flock Drone Art as an opener. The firm described it as a 'cinematic journey into space with light and sound', presenting a nice prelude into the final closing show, "Above the Sea" by Nacho Cruje. It too focused on the experience of marine life, presenting choreography inspired by the sea, with undulating choreography presenting an 'ethereal show that celebrates the mystery of the ocean and our deep connection with it.'

"We are delighted that the Drone Show Festival is a prestigious award for the winners in the animation category of the Drone Show Competition," said Alexander Levandovskiy, Head of Drone Show Technologies at SPH Engineering. "Over the past two years, this collaboration has profoundly impacted the industry, fostering creativity, innovation, and drive to exceed boundaries among providers."
