PA Supreme Court Justice Fined For Knife

Justice Thomas Taylor Says He Did Something "Really Dumb"

When Pennsylvania Supreme Court Justice Thomas Saylor went to the Harrisburg International Airport last month, screeners stopped him because he was carrying a swiss army knife on his key chain. The judge didn't want to lose the knife, so he decided to leave the security screening area.

He then came back to the screening area, where the TSA was expecting to see that the knife was no longer in his possession. What they found, however, was that the judge had decided he wanted to try and pull a fast one. When the screeners checked the judge's carry-on luggage, the found the knife again, stuck inside a shoe.

That little stunt cost Saylor a hefty $750 fine, and it appears he lost the knife anyway. Saylor told the Associated Press that what he did was "really dumb." The judge's excuse? It was a gift from a friend and he did not want to give it up.
