Talk about a trip to the toy store! In the midst of all the
balloonacy of the 2010 ABQ Balloon Fiesta, the hot-air-weary folks
of ANN's Aero-TV division made a visit to the home of Aspen
Avionics -- a company founded by true aviation enthusiasts back in
2004.
Aspen’s flagship product line is the Evolution Flight
Display System, the most innovative—and
affordable—glass cockpit system ever for certified general
aviation (GA) aircraft. The Evolution system enables aircraft
owners to upgrade their primary flight instrument “six
pack” to glass cockpit technology all at once, or in stages.
Easy and inexpensive software upgrades add new features and
capabilities, while future-proofing the system and protecting
owners’ investments.
The Evolution Flight Display product line was announced at EAA
AirVenture in 2007. Technical Standard Order (TSO) authorization
was granted for the Evolution Pilot and Pro PFDs in March 2008. In
January 2009 the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) granted
E-TSO authorization of the Evolution Flight Display.
In September 2009, the 500 MFD, the 1000 MFD and the EWR50
Weather Receiver received TSO and AML-STC authorization from the
FAA, completing the certification process for the Evolution Flight
Display System. Most recently in July 2010, Aspen also received
certification for the Class III PFD – the EFD1000C3 Pro PFD
for Class III category aircraft. Aspen is also in the process of
gaining STCs for the rotorcraft market.
Come join ANN and Aero-TV as we take a look at the home of Aspen
Avionics... and a company that will, no doubt, be a large part of a
bright new future for GA avionics.
