Classic Aero-TV: The Stratos 714 at Oshkosh17--Developing a 'No-Excuses' S/E Jet

From 2017: Aircraft Will Be Exhibited At NBAA In Las Vegas This Month…

Fresh from the completion of its first phase of flight testing, the Stratos 714 Jet made its debut at AirVenture in July on display in Boeing Plaza.

Kevin Jordan, Chief Sales Officer for Stratos Aircraft, told ANN news editor Tom Patton at AirVenture that the company is looking at a 4-5 year timeline for certification and production of the airplane.

The Stratos 714 is a “multi-role” VLJ. It is designed to support personal, business and air taxi use. Seating six people, it can travel 1,200 NM at 400 knots. With a lighter cabin load, it can extend cross country legs up to 1,600 NM.

The Stratos 714 ... which stands for .7 mach, one engine and four passengers, is designed to cruise at 400 knots and a range of 1500 miles. With that performance, the company says the aircraft could fly from Seattle to Miami in 7 hours with just one stop.

Stratos is not taking deposits until closer to certification. However, it is recording expressions of interest on its website. Jordan said in the early days of the program, it did take deposits and placed them in interest-earning escrow accounts in their customer's name. When the program stalled due to the economy, Jordan said that those deposits were refunded in full, and the company decided not to go that route again when the program was revived.
