Mexican Carrier Will Utilize The Aircraft To Advance Its Firm Expansion Strategy
CDB Aviation, a wholly owned Irish subsidiary of China Development Bank Financial Leasing Co., Limited, has delivered the first of two Airbus A320neo aircraft as part of a sale and leaseback transaction with a new airline customer, Mexico's ultra-low-cost carrier, Viva Aerobus.
“We are delighted to execute this latest transaction for two A320neos in Latin America, supporting Viva Aerobus‘ expansion as one of Mexico’s fastest growing airlines,” commented Luis Da Silva, CDB Aviation Head of Commercial, Americas.
The A320neo aircraft are configured in a single-class layout, fitted with 186 seats. The second aircraft is expected to join the carrier’s all-Airbus fleet in the first quarter of 2020.
“We are very excited about the arrivals of these aircraft. This will keep our sustained growth, in terms of routes and passengers, which we have achieved thanks to a service characterized by low prices and a reliable offer backed by the youngest fleet in Mexico,” noted Juan Carlos Zuazua, CEO of Viva Aerobus. “2019 has been an incredible year. So far, we have already exceeded our record of 10 million passengers per year and have added twenty-three routes to our portfolio.”
Patrick Hannigan, CDB Aviation president and Chief Commercial Officer, added: “Latin American low-cost carriers continue to lead the way in stimulating air passenger demand across the region, achieving impressive market shares in their respective domestic markets. We have installed a robust team in the Americas to cater to a wide range of airline needs, tapping the strength of our global platform to provide the fleet options growing carriers in Latin America need to pursue their expansion strategies.”
