Cirrus Invades Russia... With SR22

Company Cites "Another Example of Growing International Presence"

Cirrus Design, the leader in new technology personal aircraft, delivered an SR22 airplane to its first Russian customer. A flying club in Moscow bought the fully loaded SR22. The customer ordered extra tires, extra spark plugs, and surprisingly—chewing gum.

Cirrus CEO Alan Klapmeier says, “The Russians are famous for their innovation in aerospace and aviation. It is hoped that our technically advanced aircraft will help spark a wider interest in personal aviation.”

Cirrus continues to see its international market grow. Besides Russia Cirrus aircraft are also flying in Australia, New Zealand, Mexico, South Africa and several European nations including The UK, France, Holland and Germany.

John Bingham, executive vice president of sales, adds, “Each time we enter a new market it’s another validation of the superior design and safety features that Cirrus offers. Pilots around the world have come to recognize Cirrus as the worldwide market leader in personal aviation in its class.” Cirrus Design Corporation has delivered more than 800 airplanes and doubled output in 2002.
