bmi Selects Rockwell Collins Avionics For Its New Birds

More Good News From The "It Ain't Bragging If It's True" Department

British Midland Airways Ltd., has selected Rockwell Collins to supply communications, navigation and surveillance equipment for as many as nine new Airbus 319 aircraft. Deliveries are scheduled to begin next year.

The avionics package selected by bmi includes the Collins WXR-2100 MultiScan weather radar (depicted below). The MultiScan™ radar optimizes short- and long-range weather detection at all times without requiring pilot adjustment to the radar tilt control, and alerts flight crews during takeoff and approach of potentially dangerous windshear.

Other flight deck equipment includes Collins VHF and HF communication radios as well as traffic alert and collision avoidance systems (TCAS), ADF, VOR, DME, transponders and antennas.
