Round The World Aviators To Stop In Oshkosh

Mike Blyth And James Pittman Currently In Brazil

Two South African pilots who are attempting to fly around the world in a D6 Sling aircraft will be making a six day stop in Oshkosh during AirVenture 2009.

Mike Blyth and James Pittman are the co-owners of The Airplane Factory in Johannesburg, South Africa. They set out from Johannesburg on July 18th on their circumnavigation attempt. They are currently in Brazil where they will begin heading north along the Caribbean islands and eventually on to Oshkosh. From there west to California, Hawaii, and on around the globe back to Johannesburg.

The leg from Guinea to Belem, Brazil was over 2,500 miles over the open ocean. The pair's website says just that they're resting, which seems to be a pretty good idea.

While at Oshkosh, they'll display their D6 Sling airplane and we're sure they'll talk about their adventure, which at that point will be less than half complete.
