New Hungarian LSA Has Racing Heritage

Corvus Fusion Introduced, Test Flights To Begin In March

After just six months of development, privately-owned aircraft manufacture Corvus Hungary has rolled out the first Corvus Fusion from its assembly hanger in Pordenone. The event was attended by Erich Wolf, General Manager of Red Bull Air Race GmbH and Peter Besenyei, Red Bull Air Race pilot and world aerobatic champion.

The company's goal with the Fusion was to create a unique category in ultralight /LSA market. The company says it features, design, engine, gear and wing options, and capabilities will make the Corvus Fusion "totally different." The certification process will be started soon, test flights are set to begin at the latest by the end of March.

Pricing has not yet been announced, but Corvus says the aircraft with full configuration, and with all options such as heating, two side steps, to side brakes, UL Power 260 iSA engine, full digital instrument panel, adjustable pedals and with BRS parachute, acro wings will cost EXW Hungary or Italy about 103,000 Euros ($136,000 U.S.).

Corvus says the Fusion has been built by using experience gained in the Red Bull Air Race, as well as during the development and manufacturing process of the Racer 540. The goal was to combine the Corvus Phantom’s harmonic features with the ultimate high performance features of the Corvus Racer 540 and also to create a relatively inexpensive, low operating cost, serial produced aircraft. The result is a unique LSA/UL category aircraft which fulfills all the highest expectations of all pilots, and exceeds the highest requirements expected from an aerobatic aircraft.

The complete fuselage, wings, main spar, interior was built with the most hi-tech materials, using carbon up to 90 %. Central console, which also the holder frame of the main spar strengthened with chrom-molibdenum tube frame.

Engine options include:

  • UL Power 260iSA for aerobatic flying as experimental aircraft
  • Rotax 912 ULS for cross country flying
  • Jabiru 2200 as a "budget" option

The company is looking a possibly offering a Lycoming 233 for the US market

Dealers and future partners have been identified in Austria, Spain, France, Slovakia, Germany, Italy, Romania, Brazil, and others. The company says 17 airplanes have already been ordered.
