Zenair Brings Light Aircraft Float Production Home

R&D Also Returning To North America

More than ten years after moving its float production abroad, Zenair is now bringing back research and development (R&D) as well as all production of its popular all-metal light aircraft float kits and assemblies to North America. The company will begin deliveries of the first straight and amphibious models this October, just in time for the winter building season.

Zenair Floats were first introduced in the mid-eighties and quickly set the standard for all-metal floats for ultralight aircraft: They were the lightest and sleekest floats available for ultralights and were soon seen across the continent on early models of the Quicksilver and Lazair designs.

Today, Zenair Floats are available in a variety of sizes (displacement) and as straight or amphibious floats (with wheels).

"Our most popular float size today is our #1150 displacement which is suited for the very popular STOL 701 and other light aircraft. The #1350-1400 floats will be available in the very near future. " says Mathieu Heintz, manager of Zenair Ltd., in Midland Ontario.

Zenair floats are now available as basic or advanced (pre-drilled) kits for at-home assembly; they will be available from Zenair as factory-assembled units, ready for installation early next year.

The Zenair floats will be supplied by Zenith Aircraft Company in the U.S.
