Heli-Expo 2006: Air Methods Signs MOU For 15 More EC135 Helicopters

Air Methods Corporation, the largest air medical transportation providers in the United States, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) today with American Eurocopter to acquire an additional 15 EC135 helicopters. The EC135s, which will be added to Air Methods’ current fleet of 200 aircraft, will replace some of the company’s older helicopters, and provide capacity for anticipated future growth. Currently, Air Methods’ flies a mixed fleet of Eurocopter, Bell, MD and Sikorsky helicopters.
 
“The EC135 is an aircraft that will take us well into the future,” says Archie Gray, Air Methods’ Vice President of Technical Services.

“With its economical cost of operation, open cabin, and safety features, the EC135 is well-suited to perform many missions for us.”


Available with either the Pratt and Whitney 206B2 or two FADEC controlled Turbomeca ARRIUS 2B2 turbine engines, the Eurocopter EC135 is a highly capable twin-engine aircraft for Emergency Air Services. With enough room for 6-7 passengers plus a pilot, the EC135 has exceptional maneuverability, cutting-edge technology, and panoramic visibility.
