Flight Attendant Union Applauds Efforts To Enhance Ebola Response

Union Has Created An Ebola Online Resource Center For Flight Attendants

The Association of Flight Attendants-CWA (AFA) has issued a statement commending the Obama Administration for efforts announced Wednesday to enhance our nation's response to Ebola at home and abroad. AFA has worked around the clock to ensure that flight attendant work as aviation's first responders remains at the forefront of Ebola discussions. AFA has provided specific recommendations to help protect the health of all airline workers and the travelling public.

"We commend President Obama and his team for their efforts to improve our nation's response to Ebola. AFA continues to work with government and industry officials for the best protections, equipment, training, briefings and supportive response for affected workers. AFA's checklist has been central to discussions with the Administration, members of Congress and U.S. airlines. We take this seriously for the protection of our crews and also to ensure public confidence in our airlines," said Sara Nelson, AFA International President.

AFA has created an online Ebola Resource Center for flight attendants that contains up-to-date information and helpful guidance.

"AFA continues to regularly communicate with the White House, DOT, OSHA, CDC and FAA to address our concerns and improve communicable disease prevention and response. Along with leaders like Senator Sherrod Brown who has urged the White House to collaborate with frontline transportation workers on establishing policies that help address and mitigate risks, AFA remains focused on effective worker safety and health precautions in the event of a communicable disease or epidemic," added Nelson.
