Piper’s New M700 Fury Receives Unpaved Field Certification

The Company’s New Model Proves Its Extensive Capabilities

On August 5th, Piper Aircraft revealed that their new M700 Fury has received the go-ahead for unpaved field operations. This certification highlights the model’s impressive versatility and capability.

Piper Aircraft, based out of Vero Beach, Florida, has proven itself as a reliable manufacturer of single and twin-engine aircraft. Their fleet serves both personal and trainer aviation applications with heightened performance and modernity. The personal class includes the Archer LX and Archer LDX, and the trainer class includes the Pilot 100i, Archer TX, Archer DX, and Seminole models.

The company’s recent development, the M700 Fury, is the first release in a new generation of the Piper M-Class. It is a single-engine design powered by a Pratt & Whitney PT6A-52 that generates 700 shaft horsepower. The aircraft has a max cruise speed of over 300 ktas, a range of 1852 nm, and a standard useful load of 2,320 lbs. Prioritizing pilot and passenger safety, it includes anEmergency Autoland technology.

In a situation where the pilot becomes incapacitated, this system is meant to land the aircraft at the nearest suitable airport. The Fury’s avionics suite also includes Autothrottle, SurfaceWatch, SafeTaxi, and several other features.

The M700 Fury was originally FAA-certified in March of this year, and developers have since worked to expand its utility. It recently began its testing for unpaved field operations, a process that is known for its rigor and extensive requirements.

“The aircraft’s robust design and construction quality ensured seamless operations in all test conditions,” explained Ron Gunnarson, VP of Sales, Marketing & Customer Support at Piper Aircraft.

“The certification process was also smooth with the Type Inspection Authorization (TIA) flight test being completed in just one day.”

Being able to operate out of unpaved fields expands the model's environmental adaptability. This certification shows Piper’s dedication to meeting and surpassing customer expectations with the M700 Fury. Deliveries of this model are expected to begin in Q3.
