The National Business Aviation Association has awarded a total of $5,000 in scholarship funds to five students who seek to advance their professional development. The winners of the 2002 NBAA UAA Janice K. Barden Aviation Scholarship are: Anthony C. Gregory, Liesl L. Kummer, Miguel Martinez, Gregory A. Radun and Scott M. Woodel. Each student will receive $1,000.

Anthony C. Gregory of Hurricane (WV) is a sophomore at Purdue University, majoring in aviation flight technology. He holds a private pilot rating and seeks a career as a corporate aviation pilot.

Liesl L. Kummer of Columbiana (OH) is a senior at Bowling Green State University, majoring in aviation management and operations with a minor in business. She is interested in pursuing a career in corporate pilot and dispatcher operations.

Miguel Martinez of Cicero (IL) is a senior at Southern Illinois University at Carbondale, majoring in aviation management and flight. He is a pilot with commercial, instrument and CFI ratings.

Gregory A. Radun of Lexington (KY) is a sophomore at Purdue University, majoring in aviation flight technology. He holds a private pilot rating and is interested in a career in business aviation. He also is a member of the Civil Air Patrol and Purdue Professional Pilots Association.

Scott M. Woodel of Hummelstown (PA) is a junior at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, majoring in aeronautical science. A pilot with commercial, single-engine, multi-engine and instrument ratings with more than 220 hours of flight experience, he seeks a career as a corporate pilot.

This scholarship is named for Janice K. Barden, founder of Aviation Personnel International, who has been active in the aviation community for more than 30 years and has served as the NBAA Annual Meeting & Convention Local Committee Chairman seven times, more than any other person in Association history.
