Airborne Affordable Flyers 07.05.24: Osh24 Fun, Van's Update, SportPlane Honors

Also: Oshkosh EarlyBird Warning, Red Bull Flugtag, Junior Gliding, Electric Aircraft Symposium

Oshkosh 2024 attendees can experience one of the more accessible sides of aviation by visiting the Fun Fly Zone located south of the Vintage area along Wittman Road -- which has been one of our favorite places all the way back to the time when it was still “Ollies Place.”

The area is home to ultralight vehicles, LSA’s, rotorcraft, and hot air balloons, 60 commercial exhibitors, and a 900-foot grass runway adjacent to the Ultralight Barn. Van's Aircraft published a video that accompanied an email to customers earlier this month, explaining the upcoming deadlines for those with outstanding orders and issues in order to get things back to normal. The firm has been going through its Chapter 11 process pretty smoothly, all things considered, laying out a plan of attack and making right on problematic parts while filling orders that have piled up since the pandemic builder's boom. EAA AirVenture Oshkosh 2024 will be recognizing four homebuilt aircraft anniversaries at this year’s show, including the RLU-1 Breezy, Zenith 600/601, Swearingen SX-300, and Kitfox. All this -- and MORE in today's episode of Airborne!!!
