Annual Event Being Held This Week On Capitol Hill
The National Air Transportation Association (NATA) has convened its third annual Aviation Business Conference at the Hyatt Regency Capitol Hill next week, June 6-8. Attendance at the annual event continues to grow, driven in part by an agenda addressing the issues currently challenging the aviation business community and mounting concerns over proposals to corporatize the nation’s air traffic control system.
Senator Joe Donnelly (D-IN) welcomed attendees to the conference on June 6th and the next day NATA members will meet with Senate offices to discuss the upcoming FAA reauthorization legislation. The NATA annual awards luncheon will recognize, among others, former FAA Associate Administrators Peggy Gilligan and Eddie Angeles and present its highest awards to long-time aviation business leaders Todd Duncan and Edward Kilkeary, Sr.
“NATA members are gathering for our annual Aviation Business Conference at a critical moment in the development of the upcoming FAA bill,” stated NATA President Martin Hiller. “Markup of the FAA legislation is imminent, which means our members may be the last general aviation group weighing in personally and sharing their views over proposals to corporatize the nation’s air traffic control system. Strong conference attendance is also driven by the continued growth of the association, which once again added over 100 new companies in 2017, including a significant number of new airport members. We are looking forward to another successful event designed to assist our member companies in the marketplace and let them personally raise issues of concern with lawmakers,” Hiller concluded.
