NextGen GA Fund Announces 'Jumpstart GA 2020'

Program Designed To Accelerate ADS-B Implementation

The NextGen GA Fund has announced the launch of "Jumpstart GA 2020" to accelerate general aviation community installations of rule-compliant ADS-B Out avionics. Jumpstart was established to dramatically improve avionics upgrade economics for aircraft owners. Supply chain sourcing strategies through partnerships with qualified avionics manufacturers has led unprecedented pricing and as many as 20,000 ADS-B Out/In units and equipment suites will eventually be sourced through Jumpstart.

"AOPA has made it clear that 30,000 aircraft owners would park their aircraft rather than upgrade to ADS-B at current market prices, and we’re hopeful the volume purchase made possible by the GA Fund addresses these concerns," said Michael Dyment, a General Partner of the NextGen GA Fund. "Jumpstart offers a one-time opportunity for N-registered single-engine piston aircraft owners to take advantage of our very special prices. They can also beat the rush to installation before the January 1, 2020 mandate, and at the same time improve the resale value of their aircraft."

The NextGen GA Fund plans a series of large volume orders placed with suppliers offering the best combination of pricing, product availability, warranty, product features, and FAA certification compliance with FAA 14 CFR 91.227. According to the NextGen GA Fund, Jumpstart is opening with ADS-B Out offerings and expanding to include ADS-B In products that will dramatically increase functionality and operational benefits for the general aviation pilot by providing weather and traffic information.

Pricing is expected to be announced soon. Equipment will be offered on a first-come, first-served basis, and must be installed by FAA certified mechanics before July 1, 2016 to qualify for Jumpstart pricing. The NextGen GA Fund has secured an initial order for 10,000 L-3 Lynx NGT-1000 ADS-B “Out” units manufactured by L-3 Aviation Products of Grand Rapids, Michigan. The Lynx NGT-1000 units will be ready to ship to FAA-certified repair stations and distributors beginning in June of 2015. Orders can be placed by FAA-approved repair stations and dealers through to the NextGen GA Fund or to L-3 Aviation Products directly.
