Delta A220 Experiences Nav System Failure

Crew Diverted To Salt Lake City For Precautionary Landing

A Delta Airlines A220 experienced a navigation failure Thursday on a flight from Denver, CO to Seattle, WA.

The aircraft was flying over Idaho when the crew noticed the fault with the onboard navigation system. They diverted the flight to Salt Lake City, where they made a precautionary landing.

The blog Simple Flying reports that the captain of the flight announced the diversion to an airport with "VFR weather", and the change to Salt Lake was indicated via the plane's onboard seatback entertainment system. Once in Salt Lake City, the passengers were accommodated on another Delta A220 and continued on to Seattle, which arrived at the destination about five hours late.

There has been no indication as to the cause of the failure, but the incident appears to be an isolated one. Flightradar24 indicated that the plane had remained on the ground in Salt Lake City, but was scheduled to return to service on a flight Saturday from Salt Lake City to Orange County, CA.
