Eclipse Aviation Implements New Production, Maintenance Technology

Partners With Right Hemisphere To Develop Illustrated Procedures Instructions

Eclipse Aviation has its earliest roots in the tech sector... and to develop a new way to simplify its production and maintenance operations, the company looked back there. The Albuquerque, NM-based planemaker announced Thursday it will use a software suite from Right Hemisphere to develop illustrated instructions from the original 3-D computer-aided design (CAD) of the Eclipse 500 VLJ.

Representatives with the company tell ANN the software will help Eclipse "generate consistent and transferable manufacturing and maintenance procedures for use at its production facilities in Albuquerque and its service centers in the United States."

"Eclipse Aviation strives to use the most advanced technology available and the design of the Eclipse 500 was guided by this principle," said Eclipse CEO Vern Raburn. "In our drive toward continuous improvement, Eclipse will use the software from Right Hemisphere to produce standardized graphic instructions for our manufacturing and maintenance technicians, no matter where they work."

Used by over 500 companies -- including several automotive, commercial aviation, and GA manufacturers -- Right Hemisphere's fully-integrated software suite will translate the Eclipse 500's complex design into interactive production instructions. The company says this will reduce the time required to create written production and maintenance directions, and the interpretation needed to change engineering models into production applications.

Additionally, when applied to the production line, Eclipse technicians can visualize work as it is performed -- and make improvements at any step in the production process. Transforming the design of the Eclipse 500 into easy-to-use visual steps should also reduce manufacturing and maintenance training time.

Founded in 1997, Right Hemisphere is a privately held, venture-funded corporation based in Silicon Valley and Auckland, New Zealand.
