The United States Air Force Auxiliary Civil Air Patrol’s (CAP) North Carolina Wing (NCWG) has taken delivery of ten new Teal-2 military-grade drones by which to more effectively carry out its mission of providing emergency assistance to citizens across North Carolina and neighboring states. Altitude Angel has released a new version of the popular UK-region UAV flight planning tool Drone Assist, also announcing a number of additional integrations that will see it become a single-stop app for all its drone services. New Model Expands 560XL Series

Textron has unveiled the Cessna Citation Ascend, the newest model in Cessna’s proven and popular 560XL series. Made public on the eve of 2023’s European Business Aviation Convention and Exhibition (EBACE), the Citation Ascend—by virtue of its wholly redesigned cockpit, improved performance, and a more luxurious cabin—pleasantly disrupts the midsize business jet market. EBACE attendees will enjoy access to a mock-up of the new model, which is currently under development and expected to enter into service in 2025.

Pilots Escape Incident Sans Injury, But a Beautiful WWI Warbird is in Rough Shape

A saddening picture of a bright yellow Curtiss JN-4D “Jenny” wreck made headlines recently, with commenters bemoaning the loss of such a rare piece of history...except some reports indicated the aircraft was a modern-day recreation. It's always sad to lose a beautiful plane, but the alleviating aspect this time around is that, at the very least, it wasn't an irreplaceable piece of history… in a sense. One local paper bemoaned the loss, saying "the plane is one of only six remaining in the world", while another referred to it as a “replica sport plane” designed to merely look like the classic Jenny.

On Friday, 19 May, Jet It—the North Carolina-based charter and fractional ownership concern—initiated a safety stand down in the wake of an 18 May Summerville, South Carolina (DYB) runway excursion involving a private HondaJet operator. On 22 May 2023, Jet It CEO Glenn Gonzalez emailed his company’s customers for purpose of informing such that Jet It’s HondaJet fleet remained grounded in a safety stand down. A group representing HondaJet owners subsequently condemned Mr. Gonzalez’s email, tacitly alleging hyperbole and misrepresentation of salient facts.

Airplane’s Ground Speed On The Final Leg Of The Airport Traffic Pattern Was 65 Knots

On May 01, 2023, about 1402 Pacific daylight time, a Beech A36 Bonanza, N2038Y, was substantially damaged when it was involved in an accident near Big Bear City, California. The pilot and two passengers were fatally injured.
