Airbus A400M Refuels Two F-18 Fighters Simultaneously

Demonstration Occurred Over Four Flights At Various Altitudes And Speeds

The Airbus A400M new generation airlifter has successfully demonstrated simultaneous air-to-air refuelling of two F/A-18 fighters. In the course of four flights, the A400M performed 74 contacts and dispensed 27.2 metric tons of fuel to the Spanish Air Force aircraft. Refuelling was conducted at altitudes of 20,000ft - 33,000ft, and airspeeds of 180kt - 300kt – the preferred refuelling envelope for fighters.

Pending optimal weather conditions, the CS300 aircraft's first flight is expected to occur during the period February 26 - 28, 2015. More precise timing will be confirmed approximately 48 hours prior.

EAA's Ford Tri-Motor NC8407 flew a record number of passengers during its tour stop last weekend at Dona Ana County Airport in Santa Teresa, New Mexico. Inner Marker A marker beacon used with an ILS (CAT II) precision approach located between the middle marker and the end of the ILS runway, transmitting a radiation pattern keyed at six dots per second and indicating to the pilot, both aurally and visually, that he/she is at the designated decision height (DH), normally 100 feet above the touchdown zone elevation, on the ILS CAT II approach. It also marks progress during a CAT III approach.
