Airborne 02.12.15: Jumpstart GA 2020, GAMA Evals 2014, Bahamas AvTaxing

Its a brilliant move... The NextGen GA Fund has announced the launch of “Jumpstart GA 2020” to accelerate general aviation community installations of ADS-B Out avionics.  The Jumpstart supply chain is provided through partnerships with qualified avionics manufacturers that has led to unprecedented pricing. As many as 20,000 ADS-B Out/In units will eventually be sourced through Jumpstart. GAMA’s Pete Bunce reported that, for the year, total worldwide general aviation airplane shipments rose from 2,353 units in 2013 to 2,454 units in 2014. Lowest Numbers Of Tarmac Delays On Record In 2014

Only 30 Domestic Flights Experienced Delays Of More Than Three Hours

In calendar year 2014, airlines reported the lowest number of tarmac delays longer than three hours on record, according to the DOT's Bureau of Transportation Statistics.  According to the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Air Travel Consumer Report, in 2014 there were 30 domestic flights with tarmac delays longer than three hours and nine international flights with tarmac delays longer than four hours at U.S. airports.  There were no long domestic or international tarmac delays in December 2014.

Embraer Executive Jets has delivered a new Legacy 500 midsize jet to an undisclosed customer based in North Queensland, Australia. The aircraft will be used primarily for business purposes, and the purchase was negotiated by Norris Aviation Services Australia, on behalf of the buyer. The Legacy 500 was awarded type certification from Australia’s Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA), in January of this year.
