Teens Accused Of Vandalizing Plane In Spain

Aircraft At Madrid Airport Reportedly Suffered $39,000 In Damages

Two young men ages 16 and 19 are accused of causing $39,000 in damage to an airplane parked at Madrid Airport over the weekend.

The pair allegedly snuck through airport security in the terminal sometime around 0330 local time Saturday and gained access to the runway. There, they boarded a parked Iberia Airlines aircraft and broke the airplane's security door.

According to a report from UPI, the two also inflated life preservers, smashed a radio in the cockpit, and caused other damage. The allegedly also played with the crew's flashlights.

When they were arrested, both said they were "just having fun."

The younger of the two will reportedly be tried in Madrid's juvenile court. The older will be tried as an adult.
