Aero-TV: Battle of American Muscle - Fagen’s Ethanol MX2 v OCC Chopper (Part 2)

AirVenture Attendees Experience the “Mean” of “Green”

On July 31st, EAA AirVenture hosted a unique battle, the likes of which had never been seen by Oshkosh visitors.  On Wittman Runway 18/36, Fagen, Inc. raced its ethanol-powered Orange County Chopper against air show extraordinaire Greg Poe, piloting his Ethanol-Powered Fagen MX-2.

Paul Teutul, Sr., the star of Discovery Channel’s “American Chopper,” drove the ethanol-powered motorcycle in a race to the finish line; it was Poe, however, that came away victorious.

The race was held by Fagen, Inc. in order to raise awareness about the benefits and usage of ethanol fuel.  As the highest performance fuel on the market, with an octane rating of 113, ethanol blends dramatically increase engine longevity.  Because ethanol-enriched fuel contains more oxygen than standard fuels, it is able to burn cleaner and cooler.

Not only does this help a vehicle’s performance, it also helps sustain a greener environmental impact.  The use of 10% ethanol-enriched fuel reduces greenhouse gas emissions by up to 19% when compared with conventional gasoline.

Fagen, Inc. is one of the leading advocates of ethanol efficiency.  Founded three decades ago, Fagen Inc. has built more locally owned, ethanol plant projects in the world.  In the last six years alone, nearly 2/3rds of all new ethanol gallons coming online in the U.S. have designed by Fagen, Inc.
