EASA Approves STC For Piper PA-28R(T) Series With 3-Blade MT-Propeller MTV-12

FAA STC Approval Is Pending

EASA has approved an STC for the installation of the MT-Propeller 3-blade natural composite propeller MTV-12-B/188-59( ) on the Piper PA-28R(T) series, powered by the engine series IO-360-B, IO-360-C or IO-360-C.

According to the company, the installation will improve take-off distance by approx. -5 % (SL, ISA conditions); Enhance climb and cruise performance by approx. 5 to 10% (SL, ISA conditions); and enhance cruise performance up to 4 kts (MTOW, ISA conditions)

The prop is up to 22 pounds lighter than the original propeller

The MT-Propeller natural composite blades provide significant inside and outside noise reduction, according to the company. They have no life limitation and are repairable in the event of damage.

They also provide the best vibration damping characteristics for almost vibration free propeller operation and have bonded-on stainless steel erosion protection sheets for best erosion protection of the blades, according to a news release.

An FAA STC is in progress.
