Elixir Aircraft Receives CAA Certification In UK

Deliveries to British Flight Schools Can Begin

Elixir Aircraft announced it has been granted certification by the United Kingdom’s Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) which authorizes Elixir aircraft to operate in the UK.

About 30 Elixir aircraft are already operating in French flight schools and others have been ordered at schools around Europe including in Greece, Spain, Portugal, and more. The approval has been anticipated by flight schools in Britain and in fact, Leading Edge Aviation is the latest customer, placing an order for its Spanish base in early October 2024. Deliveries to other UK operators with earlier orders will begin very soon.

After receiving this certification, Elixir’s attention now turns to the FAA as a priority among other global certifications being pursued. American customers currently number 300 lines in Elixir’s order book and they are eagerly waiting for deliveries to begin.

Elixir Aircraft is based in La Rochelle, France, with 150 current employees but recruiting madly for more. It received European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) certification in 2020 and has been building its 4th-generation two-seat aircraft. There are nearly 30 of the aircraft in operation and more than 300 in the company’s order book.

Elixir leverages technology from the competitive sailing world, known as Carbon Oneshot, to simplify the structure for fewer failures and greater safety. It is powered by the Rotax 912iS engine that provides a 950-1300 fpm climb rate, with power cruise speed of 125 kts while burning just 5 U.S. gallons/hour.
