EDMO Offers Protective Boot for uAvionix tailBeaconX

A Sensible Proposition

Spokane, Washington’s EDMO Distributors, Inc., a provider of aircraft electronics supplies and services, has broadened its product line to include the TBX-BOOT, a protective cover designed to shield uAvionix’s tailBeaconX from on-ground damage.

Fashioned from durable, high-visibility, orange PETG plastic, the TBX-BOOT unit is custom designed and built to provide a perfect protective fit over the tailBeaconX’s clear glass sphere and dual ADS-B antennas, thereby shielding the aforementioned against accidental breakage.

By dint of effortless slide-on, slide-off installation and removal, the TBX-BOOT unit slips over the tailBeaconX’s ADS-B antenna wings and globe, remaining securely in place via a precision friction fit. The BOOT’s HI-VIZ orange color renders it easy to see and remove before flight.

Founded in 2015 with the mission of advancing the integration of Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) into the United States’s National Airspace System (NAS), Montana-based uAvionix develops small, light, affordable ADS-B transponders. Among the company’s considerable selection of forward-thinking products is the tailBeaconX, the world’s first 1090MHz Mode S ADS-B OUT transponder designed to function, also, as an aircraft rear position light replacement. The tailBeaconX satisfies the requirements for all existing and inevitable ADS-B regulations worldwide, especially those leveraging space-based ADS-B.

The tailBeaconX’s integrated dipole antenna is specifically designed to maximize performance when tracked by space-based ADS-B satellite constellations. Additionally, the unit’s integrated 20,000 hour rated LED position light ensures the tailBeaconX draws less power than legacy incandescent bulbs.

Viewed through the lens of dollars-and-cents, the $49.95 TBX-BOOT is a genuinely economical, eminently sensible means by which to protect one’s $2,500 tailBeaconX unit. Mathematically, every dollar spent on the TBX-BOOT safeguards $50 of tailBeaconX.
