Six Receive Master Instructor Designation In November

FAA Has Approved The Curriculum For CFI Renewal

Six instructors have received for the first time or renewed their Master Instructor designation in the month of November.

Master Instructors LLC said in a news release that all were accredited as Masters by Master Instructors LLC, the international Master Instructor accrediting authority.

The last 19 National Flight Instructors of the Year or National FAASTeam Representatives of the Year were Master CFIs. In addition, the FAA has approved the accreditation as an alternate means for CFIs to renew their flight instructor certificates.

Aviation educators who earned the "Master" title during November 2014 are:

Jeremy Scott Dieringer, Master CFI-Aerobatic (Initial: 1 Nov 14) Queen Creek AZ (pictured)
Scott Dieringer, a 1st-time Master as well as a member of IAC and SAFE, recently earned his Master CFI-Aerobatic accreditation. A veteran US Air Force F-16 pilot, Scott is an instructor with APS Emergency Maneuver Training, a Part 141 flight school at Mesa's Williams Gateway Airport (IWA). Kenneth Steven "Ken" Fukayama, Master CFI (Renew: 14 Nov 14) Prescott AZ
Ken Fukayama, a 2-time Master, recently renewed his Master CFI accreditation. Ken is a ground instructor, flight check instructor, and upset recovery instructor with Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University (ERAU) at Prescott's Love Field (PRC). Additionally, he serves as head coach of the university's NIFA flight team, the Golden Eagles, and is the university's assistant aviation safety program manager. E-mail: FukayF5E@ERAU.edu

John Shannon Mahany, Master CFI (Renew: 1 Nov 14) Long Beach CA
John S Mahany, a 5-time Master and SAFE member, recently renewed his Master CFI accreditation. John teaches with Flight Safety International and is an independent flight instructor at Long Beach Airport (LGB). He is also a flight advisor for EAA's Chapter 7 and serves as a volunteer Angel Flight pilot. E-mail: J.Mahany@charter.net

Brian Lee Robbins, Master CFI (Renew: 1 Nov 14) Columbus NJ (pictured)
Brian L Robbins, a 5-time Master and SAFE member, recently renewed his Master CFI accreditation. Brian is an instructor at Medford's Flying W Airport and Resort (N14) as well Trenton Robbinsville Airport N87) where he specializes in instrument, cross country, and avionics training. Todd Michael UNDERWOOD, Master CFI (Renew: 1 Nov 14) Prescott AZ
Todd Underwood, a 3-time Master and SAFE member, recently renewed his Master CFI accreditation. Todd instructs with Wright Aviation at Deer Valley Airport (DVT) where he specializes in initial and recurrent technically advanced aircraft training. He also serves as a volunteer Angel Flight pilot and is a designated pilot examiner (DPE) as well as a FAASTeam representative in the FAA's Scottsdale FSDO area. E-mail: Todd@Atjeu.com

Shane Larrel Vande Voort, Master CFI (Renew: 26 Nov 14) Pella IA
Shane Vande Voort, a 5-time Master and SAFE member, recently renewed his Master CFI accreditation. Shane is president of Classic Aviation as well as chief flight instructor at Pella Municipal Airport (PEA) where he specializes in Cirrus and other technically advanced aircraft training.
