AgustaWestland Secures Orders For Three Helicopters

AgustaWestland says it has recieved orders for three helicopters and has completed delivery of a fourth this week.

Blueway AS of Norway has signed a contract for one additional AW139 medium twin helicopter, which will be used for offshore transport operations. This order follows an initial contract for three AW139s placed in 2010 and one for a fourth unit signed earlier this year as part of a Framework Agreement for the purchase of a total of five AW139s plus options for an additional four.

On practically the other side of the planet, FAS (Falcon Aviation Services) of Abu Dhabi (United Arab Emirates) has signed a contract for a GrandNew light twin and a preliminary sale contract for two AW169 helicopters. These latest contracts were signed at the delivery ceremony recently held at AgustaWestland’s Vergiate facility in Italy for their first VIP transport-configured GrandNew. These contracts will expand FAS’ fleet of AgustaWestland helicopters, which already includes two of the well proven Grand helicopters. The contract also marks the entrance of the all new AW169 helicopter into the growing UAE market.

Bruno Spagnolini, Chief Executive Officer, AgustaWestland said “It gives us great pleasure to further expand our working partnership with FAS, who have an excellent reputation for quality of service with their growing customer base. Adding the GrandNew and the all new AW169 to their fleet will enable FAS to offer its customers an enhanced range of services with the most technologically advanced helicopters available today.”

Société FCL GrandNew

At the other end of the assembly line ... Société FCL of France has taken delivery of a GrandNew light twin engine helicopter. The helicopter was handed over at a ceremony held at AgustaWestland’s Vergiate facility in Italy on September 23rd. The helicopter will be used for private and charter services from its base in Paris and also along the Côte d'Azur.

This aircraft is the fourth GrandNew to be delivered to a French customer and continues the growing success of the AW109 Power and Grand models in the French helicopter market. The aircraft features advanced vision systems to achieve a new level of situation and terrain awareness. A Synthetic Vision System (SVS), Highway in The Sky (HITS) and Helicopter Terrain Awareness and Warning Systems (HTAWS) provide realistic obstacle awareness in low visibility flying conditions, three dimensional guidance and detailed terrain maps. These systems provide an advanced operating capability which sets a new benchmark in safety.
