More Fun With Your Computer: Warbirds III

WarBirds III Now For Mac OS X, Too

I Entertainment Network announced its award-winning flight simulation game, WarBirds III, is now available for Mac OS X. Featuring fast 3D graphics and a system that accurately simulates the reality of aerial dogfights, WarBirds III takes advantage of Mac OS X's power and stability to provide a compelling multiplayer flight and ground vehicle combat game.
WarBirds III can allow 1,000 players to play simultaneously around the world. The goal is to build a community of online players and have hundreds of player-organized squadrons. "WarBirds III leverages Mac OS X's advanced capabilities to deliver faster frame rate, smaller RAM footprint, and other special features," says JW Stealey, CEO of I Entertainment Network. "Developing WarBirds III for Mac OS X was so easy and exciting, all future versions of the game will be for Mac OS X only."
"Mac OS X has integrated the most robust graphics technologies available, making game development on the Mac easier and more powerful than ever," said Ron Okamoto, Apple's vice president of Worldwide Developer Relations.
"WarBirds III presents cutting-edge gameplay features, and we're delighted to have it available for Mac OS X."

With its enhanced memory management, Mac OS X allows for larger and more detailed terrain and landscapes. The combination of Mac OS X and the Power Mac G4 delivers superior graphics that result in smooth and fast frame rates. In addition, Mac OS X's protected memory allows WarBirds III to be played in its own space without the possibility of bringing down the system.
WarBirds III is I Entertainment Network's Award Winning "Simulation of the Decade" where players from over 70 nations participate in more than 400 worldwide Squadrons and fly over 50 simulated aircraft in historical missions of World War II combat. WarBirds III now includes aerial combat, land combat, and sea missions to complete the "Virtual Battlefield" that has long been the dream of most online game players.
