Hartzell Engine Technologies: New Name, Streamlined Business

Several Brands Rolled Into A Single Group

By: Gene Yarbrough

Mike Disbrow (pictured), president of Hartzell Engine Technologies, announced streamlined business organization within the Hartzell corporate umbrella at Oshkosh on Tuesday. Citing several new acquisitions and business lines coming on-board within the last short while has created a diverse group of products now affiliated with the venerable Hartzell name.

Wanting to separate and highlight these product lines outside of the Hartzell Propeller branding, Hartzell Engine Technologies has been created as a stand alone business unit to incorporate several diverse product lines including aircraft starters, alternators, cabin heaters, turbochargers, and fuel pumps.

Names such as Sky-Tec, Janitrol, Plane Power, Rajay and others will be rolled into the Hartzell Engine Technologies group and sold under one name for each product line. For example all alternators previously from Jasco, Prestolite, etc will be sold under the Plane Power brand. As well all starters will be sold under the Sky-Tec name, likewise Janitrol for cabin heaters, Aeroforce for turbochargers, and FuelCraft for fuel pumps. Mike also stated that HET will discontinue the Lycoming-Bendix line.

In other news Mr. Disbrow discussed the ongoing Meggit Southwind cabin heater AD noting the recurrent nature of the AD. Janitrol cabin heaters are a direct replacement for the Meggit units and alleviate the AD entirely.

Informational videos on all products offered by Hartzell Engine Technologies are available at the website.
