Textron Names “Top Hawk” Participants

Best-Of Client Award Kicks off Flying Season

Every year, Textron embarks on the Top Hawk program, giving a special, factory new, custom-colored Skyhawk to a handful of flight programs as promotional aids and recruiting aircraft.

This year, participants include the Yellow Jacket Flying Club of Chamblee, Georgia; Utah State University in Logan, Utah; Flight Training Professionals of Orlando, Florida; Great Basin Aviation of Reno, Nevada; and Anson Aviation of Sugar Land, Texas. Each has received a brand-spanking new Cessna Skyhawk with school-appropriate livery for use in drumming up interest and training their pilots, bolstering the 172’s position as the archetypical trainer plane. Since starting the program in 2015, Textron Aviation has delivered 41 Skyhawks under the program, which are estimated to have contributed to the training of more than 1,000 students. The Skyhawks, sadly, are only provided for the duration of the program, as lovely as a brand-new aircraft for free would be.

The 2023 crop of Top Hawks will soon start making the rounds with their shiny new (temporary) planes, in any case, showcasing their connection to Textron’s internship program for up and coming students. Textron aimed to spread out the aircraft to a mix of operators this year, with smaller flight clubs like Anson Aviation and the Yellow Jacket Flying Club being given the same white glove treatment as Great Basin Aviation and Utah State University, a part 141 school and university, respectively.
