AFA Prepared To Protect Mesaba Flight Attendants

Says It Will Participate In The Pinnacle Bankruptcy Negotiations

The Association of Flight Attendants-CWA (AFA) issued a statement Monday after Pinnacle Airlines, which merged with Mesaba Airlines in January, filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy reorganization.

"As the certified representative for Mesaba Flight Attendants, AFA will use its standing to participate in the bankruptcy process and ensure that the Flight Attendants' rights are protected throughout Pinnacle's restructuring. "AFA leadership, along with our financial and legal advisors, will monitor developments closely. AFA is committed to protecting Mesaba Flight Attendants and working swiftly through the bankruptcy process with as little disruption as possible."

The union said it will also use its strong ties with the other Mesaba/Pinnacle unions to communicate and coordinate our response to issues that may arise during this bankruptcy.

"Mesaba Flight Attendants have been through bankruptcy before – it wasn't the fault of Flight Attendants six years ago and it certainly is not the fault of Flight Attendants now.  Mismanagement is responsible for poorly running Pinnacle and squandering the millions of dollars in revenue generated by Mesaba prior to the merger. Flight Attendants will remain unified and resolute that we not pay for management failures."
