'Sent Into Space' Sends Single Oreo Cookie Into 'Orbit'

Marketing Firm’s Antics Just Keep Getting Sillier

Admittedly, the whole idea of commercial delivery firm “Sent Into Space” is to provide companies with off-the-wall, unorthodox launch service marketing, but we still can’t help but fall for it every time.

Last time around, Sent Into Space delivered a batch of soccer jerseys into orbit, but their latest delivery saw one of Nabisco’s Oreo cookies. The firm did their usual thing, creating an Oreo themed microsat to hold a single cookie in the perfect position for some cute spacefaring footage. The center piece was built to house a “custom engineered cookie cannon” that was tested out with dozens of oreo sleeves on the ground before sending it up to prime time. The end result? An orbital cookie dunk.

“All that was left was to load an Oreo into the cannon, commence the launch countdown and wait with bated breath as the craft ascended to an epic 120,000 feet above the Earth’s surface. Needless to say, the tech team did us proud, and the spaceflight went off without a hitch, with the cannon successfully launching its cookie cargo into the unknown to begin its metamorphosis into a Space Dunk Oreo!”
