Argentina Discusses KC390 Partnership With Embraer

Argentine Government Manifests Its Intention To Acquire Six Military Transport Jets From Embraer

As a result of the conversations held between the Brazilian and the Argentine Defense Ministries, the ministers Nelson Jobim and Nilda Garre have signed a Declaration of Intent regarding the South American neighbor's participation in the development program of the KC-390 military transport jet. The agreement marks the beginning of negotiations for the involvement of Fabrica Argentina de Avioes "Brig. San Martin" S.A. - FAdeA in the manufacture of the new airplane, as well as the future acquisition of six KC-390 aircraft by the Argentine government.

"This is another strong demonstration of interest for the KC-390, which proves this product meets the military transportation market requirements," said Orlando Jose Ferreira Neto, Embraer Executive Vice President, Defense Market. "Therefore, it is a great pleasure to see Argentina following this path, thus reinforcing the technological integration of South America's defense segment."

This is Embraer's fifth announcement of negotiations regarding international partnerships for the KC-390 program since August. Chile, Colombia, Portugal, and the Czech Republic have already begun discussions to establish the conditions for their participation in the development and production of the new military transport jet. In July, the Brazilian Air Force (Forca Aerea Brasileira - FAB) revealed its intention to acquire 28 of the jets. With Argentina joining the negotiations, this could result in the aggregated sale of 60 KC-390 airplanes to the air forces of these six countries.
