GA Show In Germany Runs The Gamut From Hang Gliders To Biz Jets

AERO 2010 Hopes To Attract Visitors, Exhibitors From Around The World

AERO Friedrichshafen, set for April 2010, will once again provide an opportunity for GA industry leaders to exchange experiences, socialize with existing customers while attracting new ones, and show off what's new in the world if GA. The complete GA spectrum - from skydiving, hang gliding and ultralight aircraft to gliders, motorized gliders, single and twin-engine aircraft and business jets - will be represented at Friedrichshafen next April.

Preparations for AERO 2010 are already underway, and project manager Thomas Grunewald says he is convinced that the air show, now an annual event, will end up being yet another success: "The encouragement and the feedback from the exhibitors have us feeling optimistic." Organizers have also reported growth in the trade show's helicopter section. The 18th edition of AERO, to be held at Lake Constance from 8 to 11 April 2010, has already registered more than 100 exhibiting companies from 15 countries.

Leading companies to touch down in Friedrichshafen include Cirrus, Extra, Flight Design, ROKO AERO, UL-JIH and Kubicek Aircraft. These are just some of the manufacturers who will present themselves at AERO 2010. Despite the economic crisis, the share of North American companies currently stands at 18 percent.

The Helicopter Hangar will again be a highlight of AERO 2010 - but this time, it will be even bigger. Flight training will also continue to be a central theme. Organizers hope to inspire young people to pursue scientific careers in the fields of aerospace and helicopter engineering. A look inside the industry will not only be provided by top-flight lectures and individual teaching units, but also in the context of practical demonstrations and simulations. The second highlighted theme is alpine air rescue. International Organizations and air rescue helicopter operators will present their work, while expert lectures, films and photo documentaries will convey the tremendous feats that pilots and emergency services personnel accomplish on a daily basis.

AERO was the world's first air show to focus attention on e-flight, with the "E" standing for Ecological, Electrical and Evolutionary.  The latest technological developments in alternative propulsion will be presented in a series of lectures.

And what's an Air Show without ... an Air Show?  AERO visitors attending over the weekend will be treated to new aircraft, biplanes, stunt fliers, aircraft formations and legendary airplanes flying from 1 PM to 3 PM on Saturday, April 10th and Sunday, April 11th.

AERO Friedrichshafen will have a booth at the AOPA Aviation Summit, looking to promote the formation of international alliances to strengthen general aviation. "Since we aim to grow as an international aviation show, we're strengthening our presence in the United States," says Thomas Grunewald, explaining AERO's activities abroad.
