Indy Airport Project Sign Spray Painted With 'Pork'

Executive Airport Receiving Stimulus Money For Runway Construction

Indinapolis Executive Airport in the suburb of Zionsville is slated to receive federal stimulus money for runway construction, and that has apparently drawn the ire of someone in the community.

Television station WTHR says AP reports "$5 million Obama pork" was spray painted on the sign advertising the project. The airport had applied for grants from the FAA to be matched by county dollars for the project, and according to FAA records $114,000 had been awarded in the current grant round for runway rehabilitation.

But as a 'shovel ready' project, the stimulus money will allow it to go forward more quickly than originally planned.

The Boone County, Indiana sheriffs office is investigating the incident.
