The FAA has released the first aircraft standardized training curricula for use in training GV pilots in the employ of Part 135 operators.

Part 135 pertains to companies that operate as non-scheduled—which is to say, charter—air carriers. Part 135 regulations establish protocols for numerous safety and operational criteria, including: aircraft maintenance, pilot licensing, crew duty and flight-time limitations, and minimum insurance coverage. Current Aviation of Dallas-Fort Worth, Texas and the Training Division of AIRO Group of Albuquerque are joining hands to provide commercial pilot training ahead of the looming pilot shortage. The deal will see Airo’s full-spectrum commercial pilot approach integrated into Current’s curriculum. Demand for training in Embraer’s Praetor 500/600 jets has outpaced FlightSafety’s current pair of simulators, leading them to plan for the type’s growth by purchasing an additional unit for its Orlando, Florida location. Placing the new FFS in the school’s Orlando facility will place it about an hour by ground from the Melbourne (Florida) headquarters of Embraer
Executive Jets. The area is a good fit, given the high concentration of aircraft and operators. All this -- and MORE in today's episode of Airborne!!!
