Rumors Fly About DJI Spark 2 Drone

Insiders Say New Aircraft Could Be Released In July

DJI introduced the Spark drone back in 2017, and a follow-on aircraft may be the next announcement from the Chinese dronemaker.

Drone DJ reports that it has information leaked by a DJI insider that the company is developing a Spark 2 drone that it may release as soon as July. The new drone will likely address some of the connectivity issues experienced with the original Spark drone, according to the report, but observers say they do not expect the Spark 2 to receive DJI's OcuSync 2.0 software.

Other anticipated upgrades include 4K video at 30 fps; increased video bitrate; an improved 3-axis gimbal; 2X digital zoom and an 18 minute flight time. The original Spark was advertised at 16 minutes endurance.

The Spark 2 will reportedly have a new battery design that will not be compatible with previous versions, will offer a panorama mode through its camera, and will be available in black and white.

Pricing has not been announced, but Drone DJ anticipates it will come in at the $500 range, similar to the original Spark.
