NATA's Take On The Election

Congratulations, Mr. President

National Air Transportation Association (NATA) president James K. Coyne congratulated President George W. Bush and those elected and re-elected to Congress for their hard-fought victories. Coyne issued the following statement:

"On behalf of NATA and its over 2,000 companies, I would like to congratulate the President on his re-election as well as those elected and re-elected to the US Senate and House of Representatives. This was a long, hard-fought campaign on both sides, and both President Bush and Senator John Kerry should be proud of their efforts. The number of Americans participating in the democratic process by voting in this election is both inspiring and encouraging. The association looks forward to continuing its work with the Administration and Congress on air transportation issues, aviation security policy and tort reform.

"I would also like to take the opportunity to thank Senator Tom Daschle for his service to South Dakota, as well as the rest of the nation. Senator Daschle has been a steadfast friend of the general aviation industry and we will surely miss his leadership in Washington. NATA looks forward to working with Senator-elect Thune, who himself has served as a great advocate for general aviation during his previous time in the House of Representatives.

NATA eagerly anticipates the opening of the 109th Congress and will continue to work to build relationships with both new and current Members of Congress. NATA will continue to remain a strong and effective voice for aviation businesses in the new Congress."
