Black Box Of Crashed Ugandan Helicopter Recovered

Under Review

The voice recorder of Uganda`s presidential helicopter M1- 172 that crashed last Saturday in Southern Sudan has been recovered by the accident probe team. As reported on ANN,  the crash killed Sudanese first vice president John Garang and 13 others.

The team is reported to be studying the equipment to see what clues it may yield about the mechanical condition of the aircraft before it went down. Team members include three Ugandans, a team from the Sudan Aviation Authority and Kenya, and experts from the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) that were sent to assist in the investigation.

US State Department spokesman Tom Casey told reporters earlier this week that technical assistance had been requested from the NTSB by President Yoweri Museveni and the new Sudan People`s Liberation Army leader and new first vice president, Salva Kiir.
