Taking To The Skies Aboard The Eurofighter Typhoon

New Video Gives Viewers A Sense Of The Airplane's Capabilities

A brand-new video takes viewers into the cockpit of the Eurofighter Typhoon combat aircraft, providing a fly-along perspective with Spanish Air Force pilots operating from Morón Air Base southeast of Seville, Spain.

With 360-degree high-resolution cameras mounted inside the cockpit canopies – using strong suction cups to withstand the g-forces experienced during flight – the video provides a pilot’s eye view from the powerful swing-role combat aircraft as it undergoes air to air refueling and engages in a simulated dog fight.

The single-seat, twin-engine Typhoon incorporates an ultra-modern cockpit where the needs of the pilot are paramount. Its human-machine interface features an advanced wide-angle head-up display, direct voice input, and a helmet-mounted symbology system that gives flight reference and weapon data aiming information through the pilot’s visor.

Built by a three-company consortium comprising Airbus, Leonardo and BAE Systems, the Eurofighter Typhoon represents the peak of British, German, Italian and Spanish collaborative technology, and is one of Europe’s largest military collaborative programs. Originally conceived to modernize European air forces, it is in service with seven customers and has been ordered by an additional two. The aircraft has demonstrated, and continues to demonstrate, high reliability across the globe in all climates.
