Organization Recognizes Bill Hanf and Aviation Design and Supply
The Aircraft Electronics Association (AEA) kicked off its 68th annual International Convention & Trade Show in Phoenix, Arizona, by recognizing two standout contributors to the avionics industry. In a vote by AEA members, Bill Hanf of Green Mountain Avionics was named Member of the Year and Aviation Design and Supply (ADS) received the Associate Member of the Year award.

Bill Hanf’s path to the award began in 1990 with his avionics career in the U.S. Marine Corps, working on CH-46 helicopters. After six years of service, he transitioned to the civilian sector and moved through roles at Cessna Citation Service Centers in California and New York before returning to Vermont. There, he took on the role of avionics manager for a Part 145 certified repair station, overseeing installations and maintenance before eventually founding Green Mountain Avionics in 2011.
What was once a one-person shop grew into a major player in avionics services, now operating out of two maintenance hangars with two company aircraft. The Beech S35 Bonanza and Cessna 150L serve as demonstrators, showcasing avionics upgrades and doubling as training platforms for employees pursuing their pilot licenses. Hanf’s leadership in the industry extends beyond his business—he has been an active member of the AEA since before founding Green Mountain Avionics and has served on its board of directors for nine years, including three as chairman.

While Hanf’s recognition comes after decades in the field, Aviation Design and Supply is a much newer addition to the avionics world. Founded in 2023 by Jaramey Ham and a team of avionics experts and electrical engineers, the company has quickly built a reputation for simplifying avionics installations. It offers autopilot installation hardware kits, customized avionics engineering packages, and work management software to make retrofits more efficient.
The Aircraft Electronics Association was established in 1957 by a meeting between 50 avionics leaders. This gathering eventually transformed into the organization’s annual International Convention & Trade Show, held to showcase those driving innovation and excellence in the industry.
