The Solon Springs Airport Controversy

There's a storm brewing in far northwestern Wisconsin.

The Solon Springs Municipal Airport (KOLG) is admittedly small... with only about 58 operations per week. As you can imagine, funds are tight.. which is one reason local pilot Jon Dauplaise thought his home airport would be an ideal location for a residential airpark.

When Dauplaise asked a Wisconsin Airport commission for its thoughts on the matter, however, he found there was another side to the story. The airport has already leased out some airport land to store pipe for a Canadian pipeline company. In fact, that pipe has led to a ban on nighttime operations, and restrictions on instrument approaches to the airport.

So... what's going on here?
