Establishes Presence On 'GoFundMe' In An Effort To Return The Plane To Airworthy Status

The Precious Metal racing team is looking to the public to help get the modified P-51 racing plane back to flying status.

According to information posted on the site. on the way to the National Championship Air Races on September 8, 2015, an unexpected engine fire on the ground at a fuel stop severely damaged the airframe, and the team does not have the necessary funds to return this one of a kind machine to flight for next year's races.

As was reported earlier, the team's offer to its fans is one square inch on our new paint job in exchange for a $50 contribution. "A picture of you, your friends, family, pet or anything else you'd like (within decency limits) to print on the aircraft in a fan based mosaic that we'll race around the course again in the World's Fastest Motor Sport. Unlimited Pylon Air Racing!"

There is no limit as to how many square inches any one individual may obtain, according to the site. "We'll make your picture or logo any size you want!"
