ERAU Student And Army Veteran Wins NTBAA Scholarship

North Texas Business Aviation Association Awards $2,500 To Ft. Worth Student

The North Texas Business Aviation Association (NTBAA) awarded their first 2013 Scholarship to a student and Army Veteran from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University of Ft. Worth, Texas last month. Dago D. Toruga was awarded $2500 toward his studies at the University. Toruga worked on Apache Helicopters in the Army for 8 years and also instructed helicopter safety operations in Arizona. A dedicated student at ERAU’s Ft. Worth campus, Toruga hopes to work in airport management and plans to graduate in January 2014.

“We are proud to award Mr. Toruga this scholarship from NTBAA and appreciate the service he has provided our country as an Army Veteran,” said Ray Santa, Steering Committee Director and Scholarship Program Leader for NTBAA, and Director of Business Development for Jet Support Services, Inc. (JSSI). “We look forward to working with the local campuses of Embry-Riddle to give back to these students like Dago that are destined for a successful career in Aviation” added Santa.

The Scholarship was awarded to Dago Toruga last month and will support his educational expenses for the 2013-2014 academic school year.

The organization also plans its First Annual Safety Show-Down, to be Held April 3rd, 2013 at Million Air Dallas. This one-day safety day event at Addison (KADS) Airport will include numerous industry experts with presentations on current issues and topics that are crucial to today’s aviation safety culture. As a non-profit organization, NTBAA will be working with industry sponsors to support the event. In addition to presentations, a guest speaker from the National Business Aviation Association (NBAA) will be addressing the group and the hangar will be set up with vendor exhibits.

“This will be a tremendous event for Pilots, Aviation Directors, Flight Attendants, Schedulers, FBO management or anyone in business aviation interested in learning more about the most important topics in aviation safety,” stated Marj Rose, President of NTBAA. “We are so excited to bring this type of educational event to the local business aviation community and look forward to a great day,” added Rose.

The organization plans to open online registration February 15, and attendees are encouraged to pre-register to guarantee attendance. The program will begin with a continental breakfast and check-in at 0730 CDT and will wrap up with a networking reception from 1715-1900.
