NBAA Welcomes Duffy’s Senate Confirmation As Secretary DOT

Agency Oversees FAA, Among Others

The National Business Aviation Association (NBAA) expressed gratitude for the U.S. Senate’s vote to confirm Sean Duffy’s nomination as Secretary of the Department of Transportation, the agency which oversees the FAA, among other administrations under its purview.

Duffy represented the 7th congressional district in the House of Representatives for almost nine years. That role gave him extensive firsthand insight into the importance of the role of general aviation in rural areas that lack airline service.

Ed Bolen, NBAA President and CEO said, “Sean Duffy brings extensive experience in navigating the congressional legislative process and in understanding the importance of transportation networks in creating opportunities for communities – both of which will be valuable assets in his new role.

“His prompt confirmation as transportation secretary ensures that government and industry have continuity in leadership and decision-making about the safety, security and stability of all facets of the national transportation system, including business aviation,” he continued.

Before he was elected to Congress in 2011, Duffy was a lawyer in a private law practice and then served as a prosecutor for Ashland Count, Wisconsin. Later he was promoted to acting district attorney and district attorney for the county.

Duffy received his bachelor’s degree from St. Mary’s College and his J.D. from the William Mitchell College of Law.
