AD: CFM International, S.A. Turbofan Engines

AD NUMBER: 2013-02-02

PRODUCT: CFM International, S.A. CFM56-3, CFM56-3B, and CFM56-3C turbofan engines.
SUBJECT: Airworthiness Directive 2013-02-02
ACTION: Final Rule, Request for Comments

SUMMARY: This AD requires removal from service of certain high-pressure turbine (HPT) disks manufactured by Global Material Solutions of Pratt & Whitney, at reduced maximum life limits. This AD was prompted by a report of a forging process error during manufacture of these HPT disks. The FAA is issuing this AD to prevent uncontained release of multiple turbine blades, damage to the engine, and damage to the airplane.

DATES: This AD is effective January 28, 2013. Comments on this AD must be received by March 14, 2013.
