Save The Date: 2025 GOPA Conference Marks 50 Years

Info Available For This Year’s Event To Be Held In Groton/Mystic CT

The Grumman Owners and Pilots Association (GOPA) announced its 2025 Conference and Gathering will be held September 15-18 in Groton/Mystic, Connecticut. Hotel reservations should be made now and registration for the event will open in the early spring.

The Groton-New London Airport (KGON) is a public-use, publicly-owned GA airport located in Groton, seven miles from the New London center city area. It was established as the first airport in Connecticut in 1929 as the Trumbull airport and now is owned and operated by the Connecticut Airport Authority. It has two asphalt runways of 4,000 and 5,000 feet with one ILS approach on runway 05 as well as RNAV and VOR approaches on the other runways.

The contract air traffic control tower is open from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. local time, and will also be the air-boss for the flour bombing and spot landing events. There are rental cars available nearby and in the terminal but be advised – prior reservations are required!

Modern Aviation is the FBO on the field for fuel and planning. For those flying into the conference it is recommended that you bring folding chairs for viewing the Grumman Games on the airfield.

The Grumman type club is an active community of pilots, owners, maintenance technicians, and enthusiasts of Grumman light aircraft. The group provides tech manuals, videos, live demons, and transitional training, along with critical FAA information.
