Air Methods Buys Up To 27 Bell 407GXis And One 429

Includes 15 IFR-Ready Bell 407GXis With Option For Additional 12

Bell Textron announced at this week’s VAI Verticon 2025 that Air methods signed a purchase agreement for up to 27 helicopters including 15 IFR-configured Bell 407GXis with an option to purchase an additional 12 in the future. This deal follows a recently-signed deal for a Bell 429.

Air Methods transports over 100,000 patients per year operating from 300 bases in 48 states and racking up over 150,000 flight hours. The company says this purchase will help decrease response times and allow them to better serve their communities.

Lane Evans, Manager of North America for Bell said, “Bell is incredibly honored that Air Methods has chosen Bell aircraft to advance their emergency care operations, building on a 45-year relationship with the operator. Both the Bell 407GXi and the Bell 429 are powerful, reliable aircraft that offer exceptional mission capabilities to HEMS customers worldwide.”

Leo Morrissette, EVP of Operations at Air Methods  said, “Air Methods and Bell have worked together for the entirety of Air Methods’ 45 years in operation. The Bell 407 and Bell 429 are core aircraft in our fleet of over 390 aircraft.  The Bell 407 demonstrates exceptional performance and reliability and is the largest single engine fleet operated by Air Methods. The Bell 429 gives our clinical team the cabin capacity necessary to provide industry leading specialty care to our patients while also being very reliable.”

The Bell 407 GXi is a workhorse platform for air medical agencies worldwide. It is IFR capable and has an adjustable cabin space to perform in all environments while carrying a variety of essential medical equipment needed for patient care and emergency missions.
